REQUIREMENTS

  • Doom 2 IWAD  (DOOM2.WAD)  by id Software

  • Latest version of GZDoom in hardware-rendering mode*  (download from the GZDoom website)

* Software rendering is not supported by Doom Returns.

EPISODE 1: WHAT THE HELL

6.66 years after the events of Final Doom, Hell has invaded earth again. You were captured and imprisoned by their forces several days ago. You must escape and fight your way back to civilization through demon-controlled outposts, unholy citadels, and mind-bending labyrinths. It's time to get back to doing what you do best... slaying hellspawn.

EPISODE 2: URBAN INCURSION

You've made it to the city. Your first stop is UAC Command, which just sent out a distress signal. Beyond that lies a swarm of demon-occupied structures, including skyscrapers, factories, subway tunnels, and even a courthouse. To complicate things, The Dandy Corporation is in league with Hell, and their headquarters might be the source of the demonic invasion.

EPISODE 3: DESCENT INTO DARKNESS

The only way to stop the demonic legion for good is to take the fight to them. You must find a way to launch yourself into space, revisit the moons of Mars, land on the red planet itself, and cross dimensions into Hell—the birthplace of sin. You're not sure exactly what awaits you on the other side, but you know it's pure evil. It's time to end this once and for all.

  • Cracked walls are destructible and hide secrets

  • Easier small-item pickup  (small items/ammo automatically home in on you when you get close)

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • Spider Masterminds are slightly tougher with increased health  (equal to the Cyberdemon)

  • Damage to Spider Masterminds and Cyberdemons has been slightly re-balanced  (less from BFG, more from rockets)

  • Small rocket ammo gives two rockets  (instead of one)

  • Radiation suits respawn instantly  (for the benefit of co-op)

  • Invulnerability lasts longer  (60 seconds)
